How Different Beans Get Their Unique Tastes
Coffee is more than just a morning pick-me-up; it's a journey of flavours influenced by where and how it is grown, processed, and brewed. Different coffee beans offer distinct taste profiles, and today, we’re highlighting one exceptional variety: Heart of Rwanda.
Heart of Rwanda: A Flavourful Experience
Heart of Rwanda is grown in the highlands of Rwanda, at altitudes ranging from 1,400 to 1,900 meters. The coffee comes from the varieties Bourbon and Typica, and is a fully washed blend sourced from 40 washing stations and 35,000 small-scale farmers. The beans are hulled, graded, and hand-sorted at the Rwanda Trading Company in Kigali, ensuring that only the finest beans make it into your cup.
Why Does It Taste So Good? Several factors contribute to the exceptional taste of Heart of Rwanda:
- Growing Conditions: The high-altitude environment creates a unique flavour profile, highlighting fruity, bright notes and a smooth, well-balanced body.
- Processing Method: The coffee is fully washed, which preserves its natural sweetness and clarity, bringing out its bright, fruity character.
- Flavour Profile: Expect a refreshing, well-balanced coffee with distinct cranberry notes. The combination of fruitiness and sweetness makes for a delightful, complex cup.
